There's something inexplicably charming about the dappled light that comes in through fluted glass windows, cornice bands art deco furniture and such little details that make the homes of the previous generation. This foyer is one of my favorite spaces. The door overlooked this wall through a 20-feet passageway. It made me think of the light at the end of a tunnel when I first saw it. There's beautiful light that pools onto these two walls and you walk towards that when you enter this home. Keeping with the vintage vibe of the house, there's a collage of vintage photographs of the Indian Railways under the windows high up on the wall - black and white images of engines billowing smoke, and close-ups of the trains back in the day, with glistening tracks.

The wooden console with its rounded corners and mesmerising grains, houses a lot of knick-knacks - some flea market finds, some from antique stores, a lot of books and some handmade Indian art. An intriguing mix of curios that attracts one's attention as you walk into the space. By the time your eyes explore this melange of objects, you have crossed over the gloomy passage.
