Inspiration: Studio Mumbai
Yet another refuge from the bustle of busy city life. Anyone living in Bombay would die to have such a space to retreat to over the weekend.
WE have come across other projects of architect Bijoy Jain, founder of Studio Mumbai. He has created innumerable down-to-earth, sustainable and livable spaces. And we are huge fans! What drew us specifically to Palmyra House project was the fact that they had used traditional interlocking joinery for the structural framing. Having studied this earlier, seeing it actually being used in a modern day project is fascinating. What’s more, these structures are entirely handmade, just like the olden days.
These louvered structures stand within a coconut plantation, with a view of the sea. Take a look here. Jealous much, anyone?
